SHERIDAN EVENTS & ATTRACTIONS:
Sheridan offers plenty of recreational opportunities, events, and attractions coupled with the scenic backdrop of the Big Horn Mountains. The Historic downtown buildings along Main Street with an Old West flair offer a variety of shops and restaurants.
Music Lovers can enjoy Concerts in the Park during the months of July and August. These concerts offer a variety of musical entertainment from pop to jazz, and from classical to country. The WYO Theater on Main Street holds Broadway plays and other performances featuring entertainment professionals as well as local talent. During Labor Day Weekend, many locals and travelers come to Sheridan to enjoy the annual Big Horn Mountain Polka Days featuring fun and lively polka music.
All types of artists gather at the Prairie Rose Arts Festival each year, many traveling in from other areas of Wyoming and from neighboring states. Artworks are judged and visitors can enjoy other entertainment at this event as well.
The Sheridan County Fuller Public Library has something to offer for all ages and has many reading programs for children. The library is an excellent venue for learning and relaxation for the entire family.
For all the cowboys at heart, Sheridan is a great place to rodeo. The PRCA rodeo and related recreation events takes place the second week each July. This is a celebration of Western heritage with all the usual rodeo events and bonus entertainment such as parades, carnivals, bed races, and street dances. The Sheridan County Rodeo is a family event with stick horse races for the kids and other rodeo events.
Of course, Buffalo Bill Cody’s historic Sheridan Inn is a must see. You can take self or guided tours of the historic building and enjoy lunch or dinner at the Wyoming Rib & Chop House. Buffalo Bill Days is an event in the summer that supports the Inn and features a parade, pony express, wild west show, and more.
